ARTIST’S PERSPECTIVE
Jesus is portrayed utilizing an outline-stylized ink drawing technique. I have long searched for scripture describing Jesus’ physical appearance. I finally confirmed that Rev. 1:14-16 is the only scripture that provides this information. I let this scripture guide me in creating an image of Jesus after the resurrection. Thanks to my daughter’s research, I used a new technique to draw Jesus’ eyes so they brightly emanate his joyous everlasting love. Only by completely trusting and accepting Jesus’ love (and continuous prayer), did I have the courage and ability to accomplish this challenging mission. I am grateful for this opportunity to bring glory to the Lord with his gift of art.
SCRIPTURE INSPIRATION
- Revelation 1:14-16 (NIV)
The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters….
- John 3:16 (NIV)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- Ephesians 5:2 (NIV)
…and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- John 8:12 (NIV)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world…”
- John 15:9 (NIV)
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
- Ephesians 3:18 (NIV)
…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,…
- Romans 8:39 (NIV)
…neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- John 13:34 (NIV)
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
